Marketing Sciences’ Sensory features in “Innovations in Food Technology” magazine!

Earlier this year we were delighted to host the editor of “Innovations in Food Technology” magazine, Terry Prior at our sensory testing facility in Westerham, Kent. Sensory has so many useful applications for product development right from the very start of the innovation process, through to benchmarking vs. competitors. Therefore Terry, who deals daily with manufacturing sector professionals, was very keen on learning about it!

It’s really great to be able to share sensory with new people and we’re always happy to take people through the applications of sensory to product development.

We tested Terry’s sensory acuity with a number of the tests that our experienced sensory panel undertake in order to join, including a difference test, ranking, scaling and of course, the basic tastes. We can’t reveal his scores, but if you fancy having a go yourselves we’d love to take you through them!

Since this meeting we have featured in “Innovations in Food Technology”, where we explain the practical applications, along with the method behind, sensory testing. This gives a useful overview of sensory analysis, from recruiting your panel to explaining the different types of tests and why they might be useful for product development. We also outline our recent case study on sugar and sweeteners. Read our article here to find out more!
