In truth, on initial entry to the Bingo hall some of us were a little… out of our comfort zone.
This was attributable to the fact it dawned on us we had no idea what to do with the abundance of bingo cards we’d been handed, and were receiving some pretty tough stares from the regulars. A beverage often helps in these situations, but sadly the wine was not exactly top of the range stuff, with the rosé having a unique Hubba Bubba flavour and aroma to it! Something I’m sure our sensory panel would have quite a lot to say about!
Bad wine issue aside, it was not enough to dampen our spirits. We got to grips with things pretty quickly (with a little help from the Bingo staff!) and once the numbers started being called out, silence descended and an intent concentration such that I have rarely witnessed began.
Perhaps some were a little too bingo-excited, and there were a few claims of a win that sadly incorrect. But as the tension mounted and we raced through the games, it finally happened – a real winner of £150 no less! And then another win – £1.66! So mixed fortunes were had, but the experience was still an enjoyable one and I suspect a few may be tempted back to the Bingo Hall in the near future!
